Ten stores, ten map listings, and one place to see how each one is doing.

Free Smoke — Ten stores, ten map listings, and one place to see how each one is doing.

Outcomes

  • 10 locations tracked
  • Map position measured on a 25-point grid at every store, every month
  • Every one of the ten locations has its own store page
  • One authoritative source for every phone number and address

Challenge

Ten stores meant ten map listings, ten sets of hours and ten phone numbers, all maintained in different places. A correction made in one system would quietly revert when another one synced over it. Nobody could answer the simplest question, which is whether a given store is showing up when someone nearby searches for it.

Solution

  • Built out the store pages that were missing and brought all ten onto one template, so every location has something of its own to rank.
  • Traced every phone number and address back to the system that actually feeds the others, and fixed it there, so corrections stop reverting.
  • Set up a monthly 25-point grid around each store, which turns map visibility into a number that can be compared month to month.
  • Report the same measurements the same way every month, so a change means something.
